Dear Rubicon patron: I’ve often heard my mom tell the story of a very young girl, barely three years old. She would wake up from her nap every day, pull herself up in her crib, hold tightly to the bars and sing her heart out. Unaware that a parent or two were often observing at the door. I suppose I always had it in me, to be a performer, I mean. Always dreaming of Broadway. It feels as natural as breathing. My parents have done what they could with such a child. From park and rec. programs that involved performances, to local community theater. All very valuable in building confidence. Yet I desired more. I needed more! My mother found Rubicon through a friend of hers. There I began pursuing my dream. Training and developing as a young performer under gifted and skilled individuals, whose sole purpose was to make me better at what I already love to do. There have been times that my family did not have the financial means to cover such training. My mom and dad remind me often, “Where there doesn’t seem to be a way, God makes a way.” When you give to Rubicon’s Education and Outreach programs, you provide opportunities to kids just like me. Thank you for making a difference in my life. Rubicon has helped me reach goals and set new ones. I love so much watching other kids succeed and fall in love with theater. Not all of us share the same dream of Broadway. Some children may not yet know their path, but one thing I do know for certain: Rubicon is the perfect place for dreamers!
